Top cockfighters from around the world will battle it out in today's first day of the elimination round of this year's second edition of World Slasher Cup 9-Cock Invitational Derby at the historic Smart Araneta Coliseum.

The derby's first elimination round will feature 70 match-ups of the best cockfighters, starting at 1 p.m.

Top fighters competing in today's elimination round are legendary breeder/cocker Nene Abello, two-time WSC champ Honey Yu,  Dela Cruz brothers, respected master breeder Joe Alimbuyugen, Jimmy Junsay, Anthony Ramos, Tony Tumalad, Carrie Chua, Engr. Emer Sumigad, Fiscal Moises Villanueva, Dicky Lim, Doc Ayong Lorenzo, Jojo Gatlabayan, Raffy Turingan, Mike Romulo, James Uy, and eight-time WSC champ Frank Berin to name a few.

Fighters with 2-0 record will advance to the 3-cock semi-finals on May 23, Friday, while those who scored at least a point in today's first round elimination to stay in contention for the title.

Two top entries emerged victorious in the second edition of the 2022 World Slasher Cup 9-Cock Invitational Derby on Monday, June 6.

The combined entries of Roel C. Facundo, B. Joson, and J. Bacar (D' Shipper/ BBB) and Nyok, Tony, and Engr. Canlas (Guagua Cockpit 1) shared the coveted WSC title after scoring 8-1 win-loss record at the end of this year's prestigious derby at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

BP's Royce Hotel & Casino 2 entry, Antonio Celedio Jr.'s Bulldog entry, and KGWD Man/ Dr. Lapena's KGWD Man/ JL Balibago 2 entry bagged the runner-up honors, with 7.5 points each.

World Slasher Cup 2 pre-finals, finals kicks off on June 6

The much-awaited 4-cock pre-finals and grand finals of this year's World Slasher Cup 2 kick off this June 6, Monday, at the historic Smart Araneta Coliseum.

Top cockers Antonio Celedio Jr., Nyok/ Tony/ Engr. Canlas, and PT/ Francis Bagang all entered the finals with flawless 5-0 scores after winning the 2-cock elimination and the 3-cock semis with no losses. 

Right behind them is Ronald Del Rosario who scored 4.5 points at the end of the semi-final round.

And just like the first edition last March, this new round is expected to once again attract some of the top names in the field of cockfighting from all over the Philippines and the world.

The 2022 World Slasher Cup 2 Invitational 9-Cock Derby will take place from May 31 to June 6 at its home at the Big Dome. While the matches will observe the traditional 9-cock derby format, bettors inside the venue will be provided kiosks for betting, or link to an online portal that can only be accessed through smartphones while inside the coliseum.

WSC semis starts today

The first day of the 3-cock semi-finals of this year's World Slasher Cup 9-Cock Invitational Derby is happening on Wednesday, March 23, at the historic Smart Araneta Coliseum for entries that scored flawless wins in the elimination round.

Among the top fighters battling it out in the semi-finals are Engr. Mark Anthony Acebedo, Jun Topacio and Padz Barr, Iking Araneta, Doc Eddie Boy Cheng, Patrick Antonio, and RQP, all with 2-0 records each after the elimination round.

Another entry of RQP also scored 1.5 points, while the entries of Rudy Reyes, Kulit Alcala, Capt.
