2022 World Slasher Cup 2 expected to attract world’s top cockers

Breeders, cockers, and enthusiasts come together for the Olympics of Cockfighting from May 31 to June 6

Get ready for non-stop action at the Smart Araneta Coliseum as the 2022 World Slasher Cup returns for its second leg. And just like the first edition last March, this new round is expected to once again attract some of the top names in the field of cockfighting from all over the Philippines and the world.

The 2022 World Slasher Cup 2 Invitational 9-Cock Derby will take place from May 31 to June 6 at its home at the Big Dome. While the matches will observe the traditional 9-cock derby format, bettors inside the venue will be provided kiosks for betting, or link to an online portal that can only be accessed through smartphones while inside the coliseum.

TJ Marquez earns first WSC title after dominant performance 

After six-days of exhilarating cockfights featuring some of the biggest names at the World Slasher Cup (WSC) 2022, one competitor ruled above them all as TJ Marquez of Texas Cockpit Arena brought home the title of World Slasher Cup champion. 

Marquez has formally received his WSC trophy last April 6, 2022 at the Novotel Manila Araneta City after his phenomenal run at the cockfight matches held from March 21 to 27 at the Smart Araneta Coliseum. 

“This is a dream come true for me. My victory here is really a huge blessing. I was given an avenue to promote traditional sabong. Thank you to the Araneta Coliseum management,” Marquez said after receiving his trophy. 

WSC semis starts today

The first day of the 3-cock semi-finals of this year's World Slasher Cup 9-Cock Invitational Derby is happening on Wednesday, March 23, at the historic Smart Araneta Coliseum for entries that scored flawless wins in the elimination round.

Among the top fighters battling it out in the semi-finals are Engr. Mark Anthony Acebedo, Jun Topacio and Padz Barr, Iking Araneta, Doc Eddie Boy Cheng, Patrick Antonio, and RQP, all with 2-0 records each after the elimination round.

Another entry of RQP also scored 1.5 points, while the entries of Rudy Reyes, Kulit Alcala, Capt. Luis Tapia, Tony Marfori, Efren Canlas at Tony Boy Jr., Mayor Boyet Joson, Johnny Moore and John Seiner, and Papa Bravo, Raymond Velayo and Lito Cay, TJ Marquez, and Nene Araneta, all with 1-1 records each.
