AASM's 14th Annual Conference To Be Held in DLSU

From August 2 to 4, 2018, the Asian Association of Sport Management (AASM), in cooperation with Sport Management Council of the Philippines (SportPhil) and the De La Salle University-Ramon V. del Rosario College of Business (DLSU-RVRCOB) will hold AASM's 14th annual conference at the De La Salle University Taft campus in Manila

Bearing the theme, "Discovering and Developing the Sport Industry Potential for Asia", the 14th AASM Conference aims to bridge practitioners and the academe from here and abroad in the field of sport management, sport marketing and sport entrepreneurship; provide a venue where various disciplines can network; and learn to apply different technical and management skills in the planning and execution of physical education programs, tournaments and community sports.

Dr. Pakianathan Chelladurai
The symposium will collect the wisdom of educators and business personalities who have been involved in developing the global sport industry through the past decade. Among the confirmed invited speakers from abroad are: Dr. Pakianathan Chelladurai, who will discuss about the critical factors for international sporting excellence; Dr. David Stotlar, a sport marketing professor and consultant for several Olympic Games and sports brands; as well as Dr. Munehiko Harada, an authority of Sport Tourism in Japan.

The event recognizes local sport professionals who are pioneers or innovators in their field such as Boyet Sison of ANC Fast Break, Cathy Nazareno, AFC Match Commissioner and owner of Can Sports, Personal Trainer and Coach Chappy Callanta and Sport Agent Matt Manotoc.

Highlights of the conference are as follows:

Day 1: Booths, mini-job fair and industry talks
Day 2: Keynote speakers and panel discussions, paper and poster presentations
DAY 3: Workshops in physical education, sport pedagogy and management

Professor Lordinio A. Vergara
The conference is expected to gather 600 delegates from here and abroad, which includes sport directors, professionals, school administrators, PE teachers, sport students, coaches etc. Endorsed by the Philippine Sports Commission (PSC), the Commission of Higher Education (CHED) and with advisory by Department of Education (DEPED) and supported by the following companies: ABest Express, Leentech Solutions, A-Game, Freyo x PACE, HBW Co., Hawk Bags PH, Rexona, and Freego;

The upcoming conference is of particular import because it signifies the first time that the Philippine sport industry has been given the attention it warrants as an important economic driver as well as the long-denied recognition of its social, educational, and health impact. The fora touches on several hot-button topics addressing some of the concerns about sport development in the country that hinder the growth of the sport industry potential.

Given this, and many other factors, the conference is a definite must-attend for anyone interested or in sports in the Philippines today. For more information and to reserve tickets, visit the AASM Facebook page today:  and http://aasm2018.sportphil.com/
