Negros-Cebu Quake: SMART public advisory

Smart Public Advisory: Smart Prepaid & Talk 'N Text subscribers in the earthquake-affected areas of Guihulngan, Tayasan, Jimalud and La Libertad Negros Oriental will receive 30 free text messages and 3 minutes of free calls valid for 24 hours today, Feb. 15. They can use these credits to call and text other Smart and Talk 'N Text subscribers all over the country. This emergency communications assistance is Smart's offering to its subscribers who have been affected by the earthquake so that they can contact their loved ones.

NEGROS-CEBU QUAKE: Smart Communications Advisory

Smart Advisory: We are now on our third day of providing Libreng Tawag services to our countrymen affected by the Negros Oriental earthquake. Please help us inform everyone that Smart Libreng Tawag operations are ongoing at Guihulngan National High School, Guihulngan City Hall and Tayasan evacuation center. We are also with the National Telecommunications Commission in offering free calls at La Libertad. Smart is now coordinating with various partners and government agencies for the immediate distribution of aid to affected residents. Thank you very much. Let’s hope and pray for everyone’s safety.

Smart Negros Oriental Operations Update: These trucks contain 7,000 6-liter bottles of distilled drinking water from Smart Communications, Inc., the PLDT-Smart Foundation, and 1,500 from Coca-Cola thru the Corporate Network for Disaster Response (CNDR). 


These were turned over by Smart to the local government through Rep. Josy Limkaichong whose district is the most affected by the recent earthquake. Scarcity of drinking water remains to be a problem in the severely-affected areas of Guihulngan, La Libertad, Tayasan and Jimalalud and these donations are now being transported and distributed to our kababayans in Negros Oriental through the help of the LGU and the Armed Forces of the Philippines. 


We are still offering free calls and free charging to affected residents today. We also partnered with the office of Gov. Roel Degamo in providing assistance and communications support to the relief operations center.

EARTHQUAKE ALERT: Cebu-Negros

A 6.8 earthquake just hit the Visayas Region this morning with the epicenter at 72 KM North of Dumagete City in Negros Island.  According to Pacific Tsunami Warning Center there is no Tsunami warning levels but wants to practice caution:

NO DESTRUCTIVE WIDESPREAD TSUNAMI THREAT EXISTS BASED ON
 HISTORICAL EARTHQUAKE AND TSUNAMI DATA.


 HOWEVER - EARTHQUAKES OF THIS SIZE SOMETIMES GENERATE LOCAL
 TSUNAMIS THAT CAN BE DESTRUCTIVE ALONG COASTS LOCATED WITHIN
 A HUNDRED KILOMETERS OF THE EARTHQUAKE EPICENTER. AUTHORITIES
 IN THE REGION OF THE EPICENTER SHOULD BE AWARE OF THIS
 POSSIBILITY AND TAKE APPROPRIATE ACTION.


THIS WILL BE THE ONLY BULLETIN ISSUED FOR THIS EVENT UNLESS
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION BECOMES AVAILABLE.


THE JAPAN METEOROLOGICAL AGENCY MAY ALSO ISSUE TSUNAMI MESSAGES
FOR THIS EVENT TO COUNTRIES IN THE NORTHWEST PACIFIC AND SOUTH

Two other after shocks, a 5.6 Magnitude earthquake, and 4.8 Magnitude earthquake were also recorded with epicenters also near the original. No official numbers of damage and casualties were reported yet many expressed and reported the event online via social networking sites.


Update:


Death Toll now is 12 reported deaths however latest reports from the military raised the number to 43. Schools and Offices were suspended on the aftermath. There were incidents that people panicked due to the "news" that a tsunami would hit the cities and other coast areas in Negros and Cebu. 

Meanwhile, Phivocs also issued a Tsunami Alert Level 2 for costal areas near Negros Oriental and Cebu. The public is advised to be alert for unusual waves. As of 2PM the Tsunami alert has been lifted.


If you are living in the said areas of Panay, Negros, Cebu and Bohol and felt the tremors, do contact local authority for help and report any damages. As much as possible, keep away from weak structures and if not seek refuge on strong tables and keep you head covered.
Panic buying will also occur, so do an inventory of your resources first just to know what you need to keep. Most importantly remember to stay calm as aftershocks will indeed follow until next week.

AKALA KO AKO LANG!...UN PALA MERON PANG IBA NA NABIBIKTIMA NG GANITONG SISTEMA...PAANO NA KUNG UN LANG ANG NATITIRA MONG PERA AT MALAYO PA ANG PUPUNTAHAN MO...kawawa ka naman....maglalakad ka...(based on my own experience sa isang aircon bus....)


Last september 6, 2007, 4pm, ako ay sumakay ng bus sa cubao papuntang Robinsons Galleria. Dahil wala akong barya, P100 ang binigay ko sa kundoktor. Binigyan nya ako ng ticket worth P10 at kinuha ung P100 na binayad ko sabay sabi na sandali lang wala akong baryang panukli. So, pagdating sa may P. Tuazon (near araneta center)...pinaalala ko uli ung sukli ko sa konduktor...tinanong nya ako, "san ka nga uli baba'?." sumagot ako na..."sa may robinsons galleria lang!"......."malayo ka pa naman eh...sandali lang"...sabi ng kundoktor.


So, pagdating ng VV Soliven... lumipat ako ng upuan (3rows before the driver , at the right side of the bus). Pagdating ng SEC (near ortigas ave.) kinukuha ko na ung sukli ko...hindi kumibo ang kundoktor...(luminga-linga lang) parang deadma ba?....


Nang patawid na ng ortigas ave. (stoplight)...tumayo ako at nilapitan ko ung konduktor na naka upo sa tabi nung driver...hiningi ko ung sukli ko...


eto ang sabi nya sa'kin..."PATINGIN NGA NG TICKET MO?.,... sabay inabot ko...


sabi ng kundoktor..."Eh WALA NAMAN AKONG SINULAT (note) SA LIKOD NG TICKET MO ..TAPOS HIHINGI KA NG SUKLI!!!.... TARANTADO KA PALA EH... medyo mag init ang ulo ko sa sinabi nya... kaya sumagot ako... na ..TARANTADO KA RIN!!!...KANINA KO PA SINASABI NA ...UNG SUKLI KO SA P100 NA BINIGAY KO...


dun na kami nagkasagutan....at may dumikit sa akin na lalaki at sinabihan ako na ...."PRE,,WALA KA NAMAN INAABOT NA 'SAN DAANG PISO eH...TAPOS HIHINGI KA NG SUKLI!!!..


tumayo ako malapit sa pinto..malapit sa driver...at sinabi ko ung ginawa nung kundoktor nya....


eto ang sabi nung driver.... 'ABA..PARE...HINDI KO ALAM YAN...BAKA NAMAN WALA KA TALAGANG BINIBIGAY NA P100 DUN SA KUNDOKTOR KO...(sa pagkakataong ito...tatlo na ang nakikipagtalo sa akin... ung kondukto,.,,ung driver at ung isang lalaki na nakaupo sa may likuran ng driver...


Sabi ko sa sarili ko...agrabyado ako pag nakagulo...kaya sinabihan ko ung driver na...baba na ako. ..sabi ko..."BUKSAN MO YUNG PINTO...BABABA NA AKO..LALAMPAS AKO. HINDI AKO MAKIKIPAG BASAGAN NG MUKHA SA INYO SA HALAGANG P90 PESOS (sukli)...SA INYO NA LANG UNG SUKLI KO...(sa pagkakataong ito, ...ung bus ay nakahinto sa may tawiran sa harap ng POEA...pero hindi nya binubuksan ung pinto...hanggan sa umarangkada na uli ung bus..)


Sa may tapat ako ng DOLMAR BLDG (fronting POVEDA near Ortigas MRT Station) ako ibinaba...na kung saan eh..wala ng mga traffic aide na mapagsusumbongan ng kalokohan hila...


So...after one month...nakalimutan ko na ung nangyari....


Last October 30, 2007 (Tuesday) around 6:15pm...pauwi na ako galing ortigas going to makati (guadalupe tulay)... May isang babae na kasakay ko sa bus....na nagrereklamo sa kundoktor at driver....na hindi rin binibigay ung sukli. Sya daw ay galing sa may Timog ....sya ay bababa sa Boni....


Naalala ko ung nangyari sa'kin ....nang biglang may "LALAKI" na tumayo sa may kabilang upuan at sinabihan ung 'BABAE" na ...


"MISS...MISS...SINGKWENTA PESOS LANG UNG BINIGAY MO SA KUNDOKTOR...KITANG KITANG KO"....


Sa galit nung babae...akmang baba na sa may tapat ng 'Jollibee Boni"...nang biglang isinara nung driver ung pinto....at tsaka pinatakbo na matulin ung bus...hanggan sa makarating sa may tapat ng "PUGON"...(bilihan ng tinapay malapit na sa tulay)....Dun ko na pag tanto ung nang yari sa'kin...parehong-pareho ng ginawa dun sa babae...


Bago ako...bumaba sa may Guadalupe tulay (Loyola)...tiningnan ko ung driver,,,ung kundoktor at ung "LALAKI" na kumatig dun sa kundoktor....Magkaka-kilala pala sila....at nagtatawanan pa...


Akala ko ako lang ang nakapansin sa nangyari...


pag sakay ko ng jeep papuntang DELPAN....may "MAMA" na bumati sa akin...sabi nya..."PARE, KALA KO KANINA...TUTULUNGAN MO UNG BABAE...un hindi sinuklian?... "KASI NAKITA KO UNG MGA KA-KONTSABA NUNG DRIVER AT NUNG KONDUKTOR....UNG ISA...HINDI NAGSALITA PERO LUMAPIT SA MAY LIKOD MO....KAYA AKO...LUMIPAT DIN AKO ...KASI TWO YEARS AGO...NAKA EXPERIENCE AKO NANG GANYAN SA MAY BALINTAWAK... SINAKSAK UNG ISANG PASAHERO...KAWAWA NAMAN...GANYAN ANG MODUS OPERANDI NILA SA BUS....KAYA NGA PAG SUMASAKAY AKO NG BUS...PALAGI AKONG MAY DALANG BARYANG PANG BAYAD...


so samakatuwid...hindi lang pala holdaper at snatcher ang titingan mo sa bus....kawawa naman tayo...parehang kung mamuhay....paano na tayo...????

Sa pupunta sa Quiapo-Luneta ngayon for the feast of the Black Nazarene. Here are some tips and cautions.

1. Pack less- don't bring unnecessary devices that can be targets by snatchers.

2. Bring a towel and water umbrella and extra shirt - rain or shine it is still hot and you need to wipe the sweat off. the last two indeed will come in handy.

3. Do bring footwear - though people said its tradition/devotion, do not torture yourself because there are many sharp and rough surfaces along the way.

4. Place your backpack in front - aside from professional snatchers there are also "slashers"

5. When planning to be a "mamamasan" (rope pullers) - better to have a group to always know where you are and know if you are OK.

6. For mass goes - to get inside the church it would take 1 mass to go in 1 mass to go out.

7. Know places in the Quiapo area - with swarms of people better know escape alleys and places to avoid also.

8. Bring candies and a mini first aid kit - better be safe even on your own. Candie help remove nausea.

9. Organize your things before going - this will save the hassle of looking for money, food and religious items.

10. Be vigilant - though it a enriching faith experience to celebrated with solemnity. Crooks might take advantage of you even while in prayer.

Para sa mga sumasakay ng MRT. Mag ingat sa mga kawatan at mga modus na ginagawa sa MRT. Reports say, dumami ang nakawan sa mga train stations lalo na dahil sa Christmas at New Year. Heto ang isang kwento ng isa sa aming mga kaibigan na i-shinare ang kanyang karanasan:

Part 1 ...BEWARE!! MODUS SA MRT. . . .Nakita ko kung pano nakawan ng grUPO NG ng mga lalaki ang magboyfriend sa loob mismo ng MRT..Time: 2:45pm/ jan04,2012....nakaupo ako knna. sa mrt ng mapnsing kong may sumakay bndang BOni na maraming lalaki. pero naghiwahwaly sila ng pwesto. ntutulog ung katabi kong lesbian at tulog din ung katbi nyang bbae. maya2x ung isa sa mga magnanakw sumiksik sa tabi ng tomboy... ang likot nung LALAKING PANAY ACNE ang mukha.. nyakap ko agad ung BAG ko at tnago cp ko.. napakiramdaman ko agad na magnanakaw sila. bandang santolan may isa pang llaki na gling sa kanang side ko ang dumating. anka FUBU NA POLO pa ung G*GO!. sumenyas sya dun sa nka upo at ang target palanila ay yung MAG BOYFRIEND na nakapustura ng maganda at may iPhone.. tumayo si acne.. si FUBU pumwesto sa likod ng target.. pgdating ng cubao. dumami sila. may 3 LALAKI NA GUMIITGIT SA LIKOD NG TARGET HABANG SI FUBU DINUDUKOT NA UNG IPHONE SA BULSA.. AUN. NAKUHA!!! di alam ng target na nkuha na iphone nya. pero nkita ko na habng plabas sya ng train knkapa n nya ung bulsa nya. pagsara ng pinto balik na lahat sila sa pwesto ulit..nkita ata ng isa sa knila na nkita ko ung gnwa nila. tnabihan ako, sabi sakin" MADAMI YAN" sagot ko nmn. "ALAM KO!! DIBA KASAMA KA NGA NILA" sa inis nya hinagis nya ung dala nyang bag sa lalaking nkaupo din sa tapat ko.. tumayo sya sabay sabi" TARA NA" nung nasa pinto na sya.. lumingon ulit sakin. sabi" MARAMI KAMI!!" sinigaw ko sa knya!! " P.i MO!! WALA AKONG PAKI KAHIT MARAMI PA KAU!! MGA MAGNANAKAW MAMAMATAY DIN KAYU!! MABARIL SANA KAU!!" sabay takbuhan pababa sa GMA KAMUNING. Pagbaba ko sa NORTH nireport ko sa pulis ung nnyari. may naabutan akong BAkla na nagrereport din.. hbng snsabi ko sa pulis un nanyari, maiyak ung bakla nanakawan di pala xa nung mga un..WALLET AT CP...sa mga makakabasa please mag iinagat po tau. kahit sa MRT di safe.. ung mga gumigitgit yan ung mga magnanakaw.di mo mppagkakamaln dhil mga naka polo pa. malilinis.. lagpas 10 sila.. premind nalng din sa iba.
